WhatsApp has introduced three features for its users on the web version and the mobile app. While one of them will be available on both web and mobile versions, the other two will launch on the mobile app only.
The Facebook-owned company will now allow users to edit images on the web and mobile version and also preview links. It also added a new sticker suggestion feature.
“Over the past few months, we’ve made some changes to WhatsApp to meet some of your feature requests and to continue to give you the best experience,” WhatsApp said in a statement while announcing the new features. The instant messaging app shared previews of its new features on Twitter.
Users will also receive new sticker suggestions when typing a message. Right now, those using stickers in a chat have to scroll through multiple tabs to find the right sticker, which breaks the chat. The new update simplifies the process.
“We designed this feature with privacy in mind, so rest assured WhatsApp can’t see your searches and your personal messages are always protected with end-to-end encryption,” the company said.
WhatsApp has added a desktop photo editor feature which was previously only available on the mobile version. Suddenly, WhatsApp users who wanted to edit an image had to return to the phone to do so. Now, the feature allows users to edit images on the desktop app. Users can also add stickers to images.
The third feature allows users to preview links on the app. Users can get a full preview of the link on the WhatsApp web before sending it. This gives the people receiving the link more context about what was sent to them and what they are about to view or read.
